Crozer-Keystone to Expand Two County Hospitals

By

Crozer-Keystone Health System is investing around $9 million into the expansion of two of its Delaware County hospitals, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The health systems will nearly double Springfield Hospital’s bed capacity from 25 to 46 and add more primary care physicians.

According to Springfield Hospital president, Gwen Smith, the $5 million expansion should be complete by the end of summer. It will include new clinical services, consolidated common services on the first floor, and a refurbished lobby with added valet parking.

“Our goal has been to improve every patient’s experience, and to focus on convenience and value,” said Smith.

Crozer-Keystone also started a $4 million expansion of the emergency department at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park with a new waiting area, expanded registration and triage areas, and new signage.

Next year it will add extra exam rooms, a new nurses’ station, and private cubicles for patients awaiting test results. There will also be a rapid unit to fast track patients with less severe conditions.

“This expansion will give Taylor Hospital the ability to provide improved emergency care for families in Ridley Park and the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Joseph Rafferty, Taylor Hospital president.
