Novelist, Ridley Township Native Connects to Her Roots Through Writing

By

Diana Rodriguez Wallach

Diana Rodriguez Wallach, the young adult novelist who grew up in Ridley Township, connects with her Puerto Rican identity through her writing, writes Andrea Rodés for AL DÍA News.

Rodriguez Wallach earned renown in American bookstores with Love and Summer Secrets, published a decade ago. The novel portrays a Philadelphia girl of Puerto Rican origin who finds love and family connections when she visits the island for a summer vacation.

She realized how enriching travel can be through her own experience. After growing up in Delaware County, Rodriguez Wallach went to Boston University to study journalism. Then, to find a personal connection to her Latina roots and practice Spanish, she completed an academic exchange in Spain.
