Radnor Native Discusses Journey to Becoming Managing Director at Comcast Ventures

Sam Landman, managing director at Comcast Ventures, did not always know his professional life would revolve around startups, writes Tej Singh for The Huffington Post.

Landman grew up in Radnor playing baseball and golf, and understood early in his life that a career in professional sports would be hard to come by. Once he went to college, though, he was exposed to new fields and ideas.

He started his investment career at a state and sector-agnostic fund in New York, before following his passion for media and startups to Comcast Ventures.

Comcast Ventures is rather unique compared to other companies. Its approach is to look at any potential investment through a financial lens, regardless of any possible strategic decisions that could impact Comcast or NBC.

“One of the reasons we approach the world that way is because one of the founders of Comcast Ventures had the insight that if you incentivize a group of hardworking people to generate great financial returns in venture, those financial returns will actually be a leading indicator of strategic value,” Landman said.
