36 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Delaware County on Wednesday, 2 More Deaths Reported

There were 36 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Delaware County for Wednesday, Aug. 26. Total number of cases is now at 10,188.

There were two additional COVID-19-related deaths reported, with the total number now listed at 771.

Of those, 603 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have now been reported in 39 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 510 cases, affecting 4.45 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,613, affecting 1.94 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The following are the number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County, listed by municipality in descending order of caseload.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Tuesday, Aug. 25, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 303 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 83,112 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 78.44 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups as of Aug. 25 are:

  • Under 10: 161 cases (up 1)
  • 10 to 19: 630 cases (up 2)
  • 20 to 29: 1,693 cases (up 9)
  • 30 to 39: 1,410 cases (up 6)
  • 40 to 49: 1,347 cases (up7)
  • 50 to 59: 1,588cases (up 7)
  • 60 to 69: 1,295 cases (up 3)
  • 70 to 79: 798 cases (up 1)
  • 80 and over: 1,265 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Aug. 26, that there were 501 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since Tuesday, Aug. 25, bringing the statewide total to 130536.

There were 19 new COVID-19 related deaths reported, with the total now at 7,624.
