A fresh new look is coming to Swiss Farms, starting with the drive-through convenience store in Havertown, and a former insider is the one reinventing the landmark barn-and-silo style.

“It was more fun than anything,” said Mike Cosentino of Linn Architects in Media for a Philadelphia Inquirer report by Diane Mastrull. Cosentino spent three years manning Swiss Farms’ doors in Springfield after graduating from Upper Darby High School, but before going to college to study architecture.’

He recently returned to his roots to redesign the roofline, skylights, louvers, lighting, and more to appear more upscale and contemporary, the article explained.

“We create a 90-second experience for our customers — like a Disney ride,” said President and CEO Scott Simon.

Construction crews will plow into the first $350,000 renovation between mid-March and July, and Simon hopes to cultivate similar projects in four other Swiss Farms stores each year until all 12 of the chain’s locations are modernized.
