Delco’s sending a furry representative to this year’s high-profile Puppy Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday Feb. 2, writes Max Bennett for patch.com.

Kingery, a 13-week old Boxer-American Staffordshire Terrier mix, will be on Team Fluff’s starting lineup.

The puppy will represent the Providence Animal Center in Media .

The non-profit animal shelter is also sending 4-year-old Black Lab Tia to the Animal Planet’s Dog Bowl, a friendly competition Feb. 1 for adult dogs.

Now in its 16th year, the Puppy Bowl features adoptable pets from rescue shelters across the United States and other parts of the world.

Puppy Bowl contestants are usually adopted before the show ends, but the Puppy Bowl also exposes viewers to pets available for adoption at shelters in their hometowns.

“There are millions of dogs and all kinds of animals — cats and kittens, armadillos, goats — across the country,” Animal Planet spokesman Paul Schur told Patch. “This is about making a choice about making a furry friend a part of your family, and thinking about shelters first.”

This year’s Puppy Bowl includes goat cheerleaders, a hamster Surge that will power the scoreboard and the Kitty Halftime Show.
