Radnor’s VWR, a leading independent provider of product and service solutions to laboratory and production customers across the world, has acquired Seastar Chemicals, a Canadian manufacturer of high purity reagents used in the global research, laboratory, and microelectronics industries.

Seastar is a global leader in quality in production of ultra-pure acid and base products that are used for detecting trace elements when performing environmental, food, and semiconductor analysis and testing.

“Seastar’s leading products, paired with their dedication to safety, quality, and innovation, make them a strong fit for VWR,” said Manuel Brocke-Benz, President and CEO of VWR. “Their unique manufacturing capabilities and ultra-high purity product lines will allow us to better serve our customers.”

Founded three decades ago, the company supports customers all around the world. It focuses on using proprietary purification technology and advanced analytical techniques, combined with a highly-customized bottling process, to maintain ultra-high purity levels throughout its entire product portfolio.

The acquisition will strengthen VWR’s sales, which exceeded $4.3 billion in 2015. It should also make it easier for the Delaware County company to continue providing best-possible product and service solutions to its customers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, industrial, education, government, and healthcare industries.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
