Wallingford’s Ship Bottom Brewery is planning to open a taproom adjacent to its existing production facility in Beach Haven, N.J., writes Kenneth Hilario for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Delaware County brewery, founded in 2011, recently managed to achieve its funding goal of $900,000 to expand its operations on Long Beach Island. The company now plans to add a 1,400-square-foot taproom next to its production facility there.

The new space only recently became available, and the brewery’s founder, Robert Zarko, immediately seized the opportunity.

“We’re taking over that space because we’re killing it,” he said.

But Zarko’s plans for expansion do not stop there. He’s also looking to open another two taprooms in small towns, as well as find space for a larger production facility.

The brewery, which already partners with the New Jersey Devils, is also looking to partner with more sports teams.

“We wanted to grow organically; we’re picking and choosing strategic accounts we’re offering our beer to,” said Zarko. “We like the publicity from it; it gives us more eyes. But we have to make sure we don’t overextend ourselves.”
