Uno Chicago Grill, home of the original deep dish pizza, opened its newest location Monday on the campus of Widener University in Chester.
The location at 1516 Providence Avenue in Chester is owned and operated by Widener University and franchise partner Tom Bock of The Bock Group, which has eight additional Uno restaurants in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The first casual dining national chain restaurant in Chester, the 8,076-square-foot location accommodates 224 guests indoors and 72 guests on the outdoor patio, which includes a fire pit.
The restaurant creates 150 jobs and generates new revenues for the city from the sales of the operation, city wage taxes, and real-estate taxes.
“Restaurants are an important part of the life of a vibrant community,” said Widener University President Julie E. Wollman. “We are excited about this partnership and look forward to welcoming residents of Chester and surrounding communities to Uno Chicago Grill.”
“We believe in the Uno brand, which is why we’ve been involved for 23 years,” said Angella Bock, vice president of business development for The Bock Group.
“It offers the freshest ingredients for recipes made daily to provide guests with the best possible food. And we adjust the menu to how people want to live their lives, offering plenty of options for the health conscious.”
The Widener Uno location features a menu of more than 100 items, including seafood, steaks, burgers, salads, pasta dishes, appetizers, all-natural crust flatbread pizza, and its legendary Chicago-style deep dish pizza, for which the dough is made fresh daily.
It also features an extensive craft beer selection, consisting of 35 draft beers.
The restaurant will be open Monday through Wednesday from 11 AM to midnight, Thursday through Saturday from 11 AM to 1 AM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 11 PM.
