Upper Darby’s Tina Fey and Colman Domingo Prove Philly Loyalty Extends to the Cheese Plate

Tina Fey and Colman Domingo during the Food & Wine Taste-Off video where the two Philadelphia-area natives bonded over their shared disdain for burrata.

Two of Hollywood’s biggest names have a message for the culinary world: burrata is overrated, and they’re blaming Philadelphia, reports Hira Qureshi for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Tina Fey and Colman Domingo, who star together in Netflix’s hit comedy series The Four Seasons, went on record with their unpopular cheese opinion during a Food & Wine Taste-Off video, and the exchange quickly revealed just how much their Philadelphia-area upbringings still shape them.

Domingo said he never understood the appeal of burrata because it “doesn’t taste like anything.” Fey agreed, joking that her stance might get her banned from Italy.

“We’re from Philly. We don’t understand [it],” joked Domingo.

The Upper Darby native made her preference clear: she’d take provolone instead. Domingo, raised in Philadelphia, was quick to add that he’d also accept some Cheez Whiz.

The cheese talk was just the beginning.

During the series’ filming, Fey and Domingo discovered they grew up closer than either had realized.

Fey recalled growing up on the edge of Upper Darby near Cobbs Creek Park, while Domingo lived just on the other side. The two joked that as kids, they could have waited in the same line to see Santa Claus on 69th Street.

That shared history translated directly to the screen.

The Four Seasons follows three couples whose longtime vacation traditions are upended by divorce and shifting relationships, and the easy, lived-in chemistry between Fey and Domingo helps give the comedy much of its warmth.
