Upper Darby’s Tina Fey has a musical fan in Cincinnati, writes Ximena Conde for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Though Logan Nichols has never met Fey, he’s decided to name his “grindcore adjacent” band after her.

The idea came in a dream, he said, after he fell asleep watching Tina Fey’s 30 Rock.

Problem is, he didn’t ask the comedian if it was OK to highlight her name for his band.

Since the band’s coming to Philadelphia in April and the comedian’s doing a show in Atlantic City in June, Nicholas is getting worried Fey might hate having her name attached to a band that “thrives in the chaos of guitars and drums.”

“We don’t in any way mean any offense to Tina Fey, we adore Tina Fey,” said Nichols. “And our music has nothing to do with sitcoms.”

Entertainment lawyers suggest not naming projects after famous people.

“Some celebrities don’t care about their reputation, but they all kind of care,” said entertainment lawyer Simon Rosen. “And they’ll pay a lawyer $50,000 without batting an eye to grant an infringement case.”

Nichols hopes Fey is flattered by the band, plus, she’s officially invited to their shows.
