Delaware County is gearing up for a week of fireworks, and the celebrations stretch well beyond a single night.
Staff from 6abc have compiled a list of displays lighting up the Philadelphia region, and Delco residents have plenty of options to choose from as Independence Day approaches.
Here’s where to celebrate this year.
Aston Township
Aston Township brings out one of the county’s classic Fourth of July traditions with a fireworks display on Saturday, July 4, at dusk at Sun Valley High School.
The local setting makes it an easy gathering spot for families. Arrive early to claim a good viewing spot before the show begins.
Bethel Township
Bethel Township kicks things off a day ahead of the holiday on Friday, July 3, at dusk at Bethel Springs Elementary School in Garnet Valley.
Music and food trucks will set the scene for a full night of community fun. Guests should pack blankets and lawn chairs and settle in before nightfall.
Clifton Heights
Clifton Heights lights up the sky on Saturday, July 4, at 9:30 PM at Clifton Field, but there is an important note for anyone hoping to watch up close.
No spectators will be allowed inside the field.
Instead, the fireworks will launch high enough to be seen from homes across the borough, letting residents enjoy the display from their own neighborhoods.
Glenolden
Glenolden offers a head start on the red, white, and boom for anyone looking to stretch the holiday across more than one weekend.
The borough’s fireworks are set for Saturday, June 27, at dusk at the Interboro Athletic Complex. Music, games, and food kick off at 7 PM, giving families time to enjoy the evening before the show begins.
Ridley Park
Ridley Park delivers one of the most scenic backdrops in the county with a fireworks display on Saturday, July 4, at dusk over Ridley Park Lake.
The lakeside setting lets the fireworks reflect over the water as families gather to celebrate. Games and vendors will be available earlier in the day.
Upper Darby
Upper Darby marks America’s 250th birthday with fireworks on Thursday, July 2, at dusk at Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill.
Family-friendly activities, carnival games, music, and food vendors begin at 7 PM. The early date gives residents another option before the busy July 4 weekend arrives.
Delco is just one corner of the celebration, so check out 6abc’s full article for fireworks listings across the entire Philadelphia region.
