New Micro Hospital Coming to Aston: ChristianaCare Expands Emergency Care in Delaware County

ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston opens this June, offering Delaware County residents full-service emergency and inpatient care right in their own backyard.

Residents of Delaware County are getting an upgrade to their local healthcare options, and it’s arriving just in time.

ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston, is set to open in early June, bringing full-service emergency and inpatient care directly to the community.

The new neighborhood hospital is expected to treat around 15,000 patients each year, offering 24/7 emergency care, inpatient services, imaging, lab testing, and virtual specialty consultations all under one roof.

“With the Aston Campus, we are bringing high-quality emergency and inpatient care closer to home, delivered with compassion, clinical excellence and a deep commitment to serving this community,” said Dr. Janice E. Nevin, president and CEO of ChristianaCare

What sets this facility apart from a typical urgent care center or freestanding ER is its scope.

As a fully licensed inpatient hospital, developed through a joint venture with Emerus Holdings, it includes a complete emergency department and 10 inpatient and observation beds for patients who need extended care.

On-site CT scans, X-rays, ultrasound, and lab services mean that many diagnoses and treatments can be handled in a single visit. The facility is also equipped to respond to serious emergencies, including heart attacks and strokes, with virtual access to specialists in cardiology, infectious disease, critical care, and hospital medicine.

The Aston location is the first phase of a larger campus, with a second-floor outpatient health center slated to open in fall 2026. ChristianaCare is also planning a similar neighborhood hospital in Springfield by 2027, continuing its push to expand access across southeastern Pennsylvania.

The $50.9 million investment is expected to generate 75 new jobs, a welcome boost for a county working hard to meet growing demand for accessible, local healthcare.
