Delco Volunteers Looking for Some Individuals to Step Up in 2026

Delco Volunteers is a program through America250PA Delco that seeks out individuals to help with county events and activities as the 250th anniversary celebration gets underway.

Volunteers are fanning out across Delaware County this weekend as America250PADelco concludes National Volunteer Week April 19-25 with countywide events and a call to serve year-round with Delco Volunteers.

The Delco Volunteers program is working toward a goal of signing up 2,500 Delaware County residents for service in 2026. It’s part of the national America Gives initiative—the largest volunteer service campaign in American history.

Volunteers are working at these events across the county on Saturday and Sunday.

Prospect Park Earth Day

There is a Prospect Park Earth Day Clean-up and Celebration today, April 25, starting at 9 AM., at Moore’s Lake Park at 879 14th Avenue.

The day starts with a presentation on pollinator gardens by Master Gardener and Master Beekeeper, Council Member Joe Zabczynski.

The talk is followed by a walk through the park to care for trees and shrubs that  have been planted along a riparian buffer.

Rain date is April 26.

Colonial Farmstead Park Day

The Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead in Ridley Creek State Park at 3900 N. Sandy Flash Drive in Newtown Square is participating in Park Day through the American Battlefield Trust.

It is joining parks around the country for a day of volunteer service to support local historic sites.

The Farmstead is a living history museum that demonstrates daily life in Southeastern Pennsylvania during the late 18th century.

America on Display

On Saturday and Sunday, volunteers will be painting storefront windows with patriotic themes and colors.

Media Spring Arts Show

The 3rd Annual Media Art Show closes out the weekend on Sunday.

From 11 AM to 4 PM, more than 140 artists, crafters and makers will showcase original handmade works along State Street.

The call to service doesn’t end this weekend, however.

Delco Volunteers connects residents to volunteer opportunities across all 49 Delaware County municipalities year-round. Here are some signature events still looking for help.

Battle for Independence

A Revolutionary War-themed road rally celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Brandywine takes place May 16.

The Battle for Independence: Amazing Race to Brandywine needs 80 volunteers to staff stops along the route.

Haverford Heritage Festival

Sixty volunteers are needed for the June 7 Haverford Hertiage Festival — an annual, family-friendly festival for 1,500 people along Karakung Drive that features live music, local vendors, colonial reenactments, and tours of historic sites like Nitre Hall.

Delco 10-Miler

This fall, the Delco 10-Miler on October 4 — a 10-mile road race finishing at Subaru Park, will require more than 300 volunteers to make it happen.

The race is presented by the County of Delaware and Visit Delco.

“Delaware County has always been a place where people show up for each other,” said Andrea Silva, executive director of America250PADelco. “National Volunteer Week is the perfect moment to start — but we’re asking Delco residents to keep going. Whether it’s a battlefield in May or a finish line in October, there is a place for you at Delco Volunteers.”
