A “We the People” Party Friday night at Valley Forge Military College in Wayne gave guests a taste of what to expect from a year’s worth of events planned in Delaware County, celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary and the critical role the county played in the nation’s origins, reports Jill Croce for Fox 29.
There are more than 100 scheduled programs and events planned for 2026.
“It’s going to take our businesses, our non-profits, our educational institutions, our municipalities, our boroughs, and every Delaware County resident to really bring our celebration to life,” said Andrea Silva, director of the Delaware County America 250 Commission.
Christine Reuther, vice chairman of Delaware County Council, said the county is not just watching the 250th celebration from the sidelines.
“Make no mistake, come 2026, all eyes are going to be on our region. We are standing at the center of American history,” she said.
The Semiquincentennial is expected to have a real economic impact on local businesses as visitors from around the world shop, stay, and eat in Delaware County towns, Reuther said.
