Delaware County native and Sun Valley High alumnus William “Bill” McKee is reviving the Baja Beach Club brand with the opening of a Philadelphia venue that resembles a tropical escape

McKee has spent decades in the nightclub business and has now opened a 42,000 square-foot Baja Beach Club along the Delaware River in Philadelphia, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

The club opened on April 10. It is owned by McKee and business partner Bryan McDonaugh, who owns the Nauti Goose in Northeast Maryland.

The new club has several bars, cabanas, food, bottle and cigar service, and a heated pool. It can accommodate about 3,000 guests.

McKee, who was once a pro football player for the New York Giants, has owned 26 nightclubs and restaurants during his career.

His name is tied to some of the region’s best-known clubs, including Pulsations in Glen Mills, Brownie’s, Boomerangs in Essington, the original Baja Beach Club on Delaware Avenue, Polo Bay in Margate, and several Baja-branded clubs in Daytona Beach and Gainesville, Florida.

“At one time, we were doing two to three million dollars a week in business,” McKee said. “We had an amazing run.”
