Glenside Mainstay Keswick Tavern Closes its Doors Next Week

A 1928 Tudor home in West Chester recently got an upgrade that perfectly.

It will mark the end of an era this Sunday when Glenside staple Keswick Tavern celebrates its last hurrah before closing its doors for good, writes Ryan Genova for Glenside Local.

Owners Bill and Michelle McKeever opened the popular spot in 1998 on Memorial Day weekend. While closing shop around the same time of the year is a fitting curtain call for the pair, they said the decision to sell was not an easy one to make.

“When we started the Keswick, we were in our 30s, and our lives were a lot different then,” said Michelle.

“Now we’re 58 going on 59, our kids are in their twenties, and we want to do different things. We had an offer, we took it, but it’s also sad. It’s going to be weird.”

While the name of the new owner was not disclosed, the pair said they are a Glenside native, a seasoned restaurateur, and a resident of Keswick Village.

The last hurrah for the current owners, The End of an Era, will be an all-day, all-night event tentatively scheduled for May 19. The cash-only happening will feature music and a buffet.
