The inaugural Girlsgate at Lincoln Financial Field was a big success for women who want to have a low-stress place to support the Eagles.

Lot F2 at Lincoln Financial Field is now the home of Girlsgate, a girls-only Eagles tailgate that has, among other things, green body glitter and light pink pong tables and cornhole boards, writes Beatrice Forman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Girlsgate was created by Alyssa Layne of Ridley and Harry McCloskey so women could cheer the Eagles uninhibited.

More than two dozen women and a few stray boyfriends hung around Lot F for the inaugural event Sunday night before the Eagles took on the Miami Dolphins.

Buzz for Girlsgate started on social media in October. Its initial intent was to promote Layne’s mobile spray-tanning business and McCloskey’s bachelorette and nightclub concierge services.

But it quickly turned into a safe place for women to support the Eagles without stress, fears of harassment, or guys mansplaining how the Brotherly Shove works.

For many of them, it was their first tailgate. And they can’t wait to go back.

“Everyone knows Philly’s tailgate culture is crazy, fun, and loud, but not everyone has a tailgate to go to, especially women,” said Layne, 27, who owns Let’s Glow Girls. “We just wanted to create a place for women to have fun.”
