“I thought it would be like a fun roller coaster, but man, was I wrong,” said Jason Kelce on training with Team USA’s Bobsled Team in Park City, Utah.
His experience bobsledding was the latest adventure for this retired Philadelphia Eagle.
The Haverford resident worked with members of the USA Bobsled Team before they headed to Milan for the Winter Olympics, writes Miguel A. Melendez for Men’s Journal.
The training included traveling nearly 100 miles per hour down an ice track, and was “way harder than it looks,” Kelce admitted.
Kelce recorded an 18-minute video for his YouTube channel covering the experience.
He worked with head coach Chris Fogt, pilot Frank Del Duca, and the other team members before giving it a real try.
“It started out quiet and smooth, but as we continued to pick up speed, the intensity got higher and higher,” he said.
The sled speed topped out at Turn 8, at 84 miles per hour, subjecting him to 5 Gs. It felt like 1,400 pounds was pushing him into the bottom of the sled. It got so loud he couldn’t hear his own screams, Kelce said.
