Central Bucks High School East Graduate Publishes Best-Selling Book

Central Bucks East High School graduate Dan Wang recently wrote a book that was featured on the New York Times’ bestseller list for two weeks.

Dan Wang, a Central Bucks East High School graduate, recently wrote a book that was featured on The New York Times’ bestsellers list for two weeks in September, writes Jess Rohan for the Bucks County Courier Times

The book, titled “Breakneck: China’s Quest to Engineer the Future,” discusses China’s development and lessons for both the United States and China.

It’s been recommended by NPR and The New Yorker and was also shortlisted for a Financial Times book award.

Wang is a researcher at Stanford University, whose family moved from China to Canada and then to Bucks County, which he discusses in his book.

His family moved to the county in 2008 when Wang was 17, and he graduated from high school in 2010.

“It wasn’t easy to transition from Canada to Bucks halfway through high school,” said Wang. “CB East was a warm place to introduce me to American life.”

Wang’s book delves into his parents’ decision to leave China and begin a new life in North America. The family struggled as a result of the 2008 financial crisis and the “dot-com” bubble, while China’s economy boomed.

Despite his family’s financial troubles, Wang said he believed his life in the U.S. has been better than it would have been had his family stayed in China

“I certainly wouldn’t have been able to do the sort of work I’m proud of, like writing this book,” Wang wrote.
