Little Horse Tavern at Cobbs Creek Welcomes Golfers and Neighbors

The Little Horse Tavern at the Cobbs Creek Golf Course is a full-service restaurant and bar for golfers and neighbors in the community.

The Little Horse Tavern opened Monday on Lansdowne Avenue at the Cobbs Creek Golf Course, as a full-service restaurant and bar serving golfers and neighbors alike, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The restaurant, which takes the Cobbs Creek revival in West Philadelphia and Upper Darby, beyond the golf course, is a collaboration between the Fitler Club and Strother Enterprises. It combines a private club’s hospitality experience with a West Philadelphia family-run food service with deep roots at Cobbs Creek.

“This project isn’t just about hospitality,” said Natasha Strother Lassite, chief strategy officer for Strother Enterprises.  “It’s about community, education, and access.”

Little Horse Tavern has a casual dining room, a full bar, and an upstairs event area for hosting large gatherings.

The all-day menu offers items such as tater tots, wings, burgers, and cheesesteaks alongside more sophisticated dishes like tuna ceviche and esquites guacamole.

Nine cocktails, beer, and wine are available.

The restaurant is named for Charlie “Little Horse” Sifford, the Black golfer who helped integrate professional golf.

The new building is next to the Topgolf-style heated 68-bay driving range

A renovated 18-hole championship course is expected to open in 2027.
