A full restaurant and bar called the Little Horse Tavern is coming to the Cobbs Creek Golf Course this fall, writes Jake Blumgart for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
It’s the latest upgrade to the course, which is located in Upper Darby and West Philadelphia.
The Fitler Club and Strother Enterprises will offer food and beverage service.
The tavern name is the moniker of Charlie Sifford, a Black golfer who was the first to play in the PGA Tournament back in the 1960s.
The tavern partners will also provide event catering, service to the golf club’s 68 driving bays, and refreshment carts on the course.
Food and beverage revenue will support educational and community events at Cobbs Creek, including free year-round youth programming, offered in partnership with Tiger Woods’ TGR Foundation.
The tavern partners are the latest effort to bring positive change to the community, according to Jeff Shanahan, president of the nonprofit Cobbs Creek Foundation, responsible for the course renovations.
“Both partners share our commitment to creating a destination that is welcoming for all guests, providing golfers and nongolfers a world-class experience in an open, inclusive environment.”
