The Hilton Garden Inn Media hotel at the former Franklin Mint complex is opening next week and is taking reservations for Dec. 22 and beyond, writes Pete Bannon for the Daily Times.
The 18,000-square-foot hotel’s opening in Middletown Township aligns well with Delaware County’s upcoming celebrations of the nation’s sesquicentennial.
The four-story, 107-room full-service hotel at 2 Donovan Place will be In a prime location for an expected 2026 tourism surge for major events in the region, including America250 celebrations, the PGA Championship, and FIFA World Cup events.
The hotel features digital-first guest technology and large meeting and event spaces. It will be the only full-service hotel with large meeting and catering space within a 7-mile radius.
It is close to Wawa headquarters, SAP in Newtown Square, IceWorks, Neumann University, and Penn State Brandywine.
About 40 new hospitality positions have been created from the new hotel, with more than 200 people involved in its construction.
Patrick J. Burns owns the hotel through his management company, Metro Philly Management. He also owns the Courtyard Marriott in Springfield and the Fairfield Suites in Marple, as well as the ShopRite supermarkets in Drexel Hill and Brookhaven.
He is also the chair for America250PA.
