Ribbon Officially Cut on New Hotel in Newtown Square’s Ellis Preserve

Equus Capital Partners recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Hilton Garden Inn in Newtown Square, ahead of its official opening on Nov. 22, writes Kenneth Hilario for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The 138-room hotel will primarily operate as a business service hotel as it is ideally positioned directly off the Main Line. It will feature a restaurant and a bar, four meeting spaces, and an outdoor area with a fire pit.

The hotel is part of the 218-acre Ellis Preserve at the intersection of routes 252 and 3. When complete, the community will offer 1.5 million square feet of office space and 420,000 square feet of retail anchored by a Whole Foods that is expected to open next year. The development also includes 142 townhomes and 252 apartments.

The project reached its mid-point in September last year, and the upcoming Hilton will fill a need Equus recognized 13 years ago.

“When we bought the property in 2004, it was well known that there was significant unmet demand for hotel rooms in that immediate market,” said Steve Spaeder, president of BPG Development, Equus’s development arm.
