A Yeadon ambulance is being auctioned off as a possible tailgate vehicle to raise money for the borough community.
The Yeadon Borough Public Works Department is auctioning off the 1993 E350 ambulance, with 100 percent of the proceeds from the auction used for Yeadon’s road maintenance, setting up local events for residents, community programs, public safety initiatives, and more, according to a press release about the auction.
Online bidding is open 24/7 to Pennsylvania residents on Municibid but closes on Wednesday, Oct. 15. As of Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, 9:46 AM, seven bids had been received with the current highest bid standing at $3,651.
The ambulance can be converted into the ultimate tailgate vehicle for football games. It currently has 105,004 miles on it and features a 7.3 Diesel engine and a 3-Speed Automatic/4-Speed Automatic transmission.
Upcycling has exploded in popularity over the years, including in the automotive space.
Vehicles like ambulances that are no longer in use are being repurposed with a new look and life.
The winning bidder can customize the ambulance by adding a barbecuing space, bar, card table, TV, napping area, and more.
“I have resuscitated a former ambulance and brought it back to life as a motor home that we affectionately call the ‘campulance’,” stated Ethan K., a Municibid bidder. “I have no prior experience with conversions, and it has proven no easy feat, but I have enjoyed the lengthy process, and more so next spring/summer when we hope to take the kids camping.”
Municibid was founded in 2006 and serves over 7,000 governments and schools across the US to auction off fire trucks, buses, ambulances, heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, and other surplus goods to the public online.
