Even the Wardrobe in ‘Task’ Is Delaware County-Themed

Emilia Jones, who plays Meave Prendergrass, wears a Schuylkill River Mermaid shirt from Delaware County-based apparel maker Phillygoat in Episode 2.

Task,” the HBO crime drama is Delaware County through and through, even in the clothing the characters wear.

There’s Rita’s water ice and Wawa coffee, but there’s also a hoodie promoting Delco’s Victory Cleaners chain and clothing from the Havertown Bicycle Shop, writes Michael Tanenbaum for PhillyVoice.

The character of Cliff wears a sweatshirt for Mahoney and Mahoney Landscaping, a Glen Mills business.

Mare of Easttown” costume designer Meghan Kasperlik was brought in to outfit the cast.

For “Mare of Easttown,” Kasperlik sat in the Aston Wawa parking lot, people-watching for three hours to get inspiration.

For “Task,” she observed the rural outskirts of Delaware County to create the look of characters Robbie and Cliff.

The show also relies on unique T-shirts from Philadelphia apparel designer Eric Kenney, also known as HeavySlime.

Those ended up on Kasperlik’s radar after she saw some of her team members wearing HeavySlime shirts and hats and knew it would match the aesthetic of “Task.”

HeavySlime’s style of T-shirt features skeletons and dark twists on Philly sports fandom.

“Originally, it was just going to be the one shirt,” Kasperlik said. “Then it led to a couple of shirts just because I was loving the graphics so much.”
