The film crews were here last year, so we know something’s got to break soon. Now HBO is revealing a little more about its upcoming crime drama with a meatier “Task” teaser.
The show, from “Mare of Easttown” creator and Archbishop Carroll High School graduate Brad Ingelsby, is set to debut on HBO Max in September, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“Task” stars Mark Ruffalo. Filming was taking place in Delaware County, including at the Delaware County Courthouse, and other parts of the Philadelphia region last year.
The teaser was released on Thursday. Ruffalo plays the leader of an FBI task force investigating several drug-house robberies.
Other filming locations in the region included Ralph’s Italian Restaurant in South Philly, Newtown Square, and various other locations in Delaware County and Montgomery County.
Ingelsby, a Berwyn native, is credited with writing “Task.” It was directed by South Philadelphia native Jeremiah Zagar, son of Philly mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar.
Ingelsby created the story’s main character, a former priest turned FBI agent, after talking with his uncle, a former priest, who told him priests would often help the FBI, according to an interview he gave in Vanity Fair.
The series will air weekly for a seven-episode run.
