Archbishop Carroll High School grad Brad Ingelsby, creator of “Mare of Easttown,” is talking about his new upcoming HBO series “Task,” which, like “Mare,” had many of its scenes filmed in Delaware County.
“Task” is set in the working-class suburbs outside of Philadelphia and follows FBI agent Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) as he leads a task force to end a series of drug-house robberies, writes Rebecca Ford for Vanity Fair.
For screenwriter Ingeslby, it was good to come home again.
“It’s where I live now, it’s where I grew up, it’s where I was raised, and it’s where a lot of the important relationships in my life were formed,” he tells Vanity Fair. “It’s also a place that I feel like I can speak about and write about with some conviction and authority.”
Ingelsby created the story’s main character after talking with his uncle, a former priest, who told him priests would often help the FBI.
The FBI agent in the story is an ex-priest grappling with his own loss.
A former priest turned FBI agent was an advisor on the film, along with the chief of police from Easttown in Chester County and a former biker gang member.
