Steve Donahue, former Penn coach, will take over St. Joseph’s men’s basketball program following Billy Lange’s move to the New York Knicks to run the team’s player development program, writes Dylan Johnson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“Billy and I shared a vision for how to run a program in the new world of college sports,” said St. Joe’s athletic director Jill Bodensteiner. “He built that infrastructure from the ground up – people, culture, facilities, student-athlete development, and talent. We have all of the pieces we need to be successful as Steve Donahue leads us into our next chapter of Hawks basketball.”

Donahue joined the Hawks earlier this year as an associate head coach after a ten-season run at Penn, which he concluded with a 131-130 record and a notable appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2018. Previously, he served as head coach at both Cornell and Boston College. His career record as a head coach over 24 years stands at 331-344.

“From the minute I arrived on Hawk Hill, I’ve been blown away by the state of the program,” said Donahue.
