Cornell’s 48-Year Lacrosse Slump Ends With Help From Radnor’s Ryan Goldstein

Ryan Goldstein of Radnor helped Cornell takes the lacrosse national championship.

Cornell University won its first national lacrosse championship in 48 years with some help from Ryan Goldstein of Radnor Township, writes Isabella DiAmore for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The sophomore attacker helped them take a 13-10 victory over Maryland for the national championship.

The Radnor High School graduate spent Memorial Day weekend at the NCAA men’s lacrosse final four and championship game with his family.

“That’s the pinnacle of the sport right there,” said Goldstein. “My family has always been going — that was our vacation, and it was kind of where my love started.”

His first memory of the game came when he was 6  years old, back in 2009, when Syracuse beat Cornell in the final at Gillette Stadium.

His parents, Tim and Tina, played lacrosse for the University of Michigan.

It was a surreal moment, then, for Goldstein, who was back at Gillette Stadium for the championship game, this time with Cornell coming out ahead.

Goldstein started in all 19 games for Cornell, led the team in assists (50), and scored four goals in the final. He finished the season second in goals (43) and points (93).
