Since Lorraine Beers became the girls’ lacrosse coach at Archbishop John Carroll High School in 2000, the team has won every PCL game and championship through 2024, writes Gina Lizzo for Main Line Today.
The Radnor school has won four consecutive Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association 2A State Championships.
In 2000, one of Beers’ players, Paige Andrews, dreamed of pursuing lacrosse at Georgetown University. Beers was determined to work with her to make that dream come true, which inspired other team members.
Because there weren’t travel clubs or PIAA for girls’ lacrosse, Beers worked hard to find year-round opportunities for her team.
The team has since caught the attention of many colleges that have reached out with NCAA Division I offers.
“Everyone who sets foot on the field has a dream, whether that’s getting varsity minutes or playing in a Final Four at the Division I college level,” said Beers. “I feel so fortunate to have been able to do this for as long as I have.”
Currently, five of the seniors on the team are set to join collegiate programs, with four of them being D1.
The team hopes to win their 25th PCL title this year thanks to their drive to succeed and abundance of training.
