Sophie’s BBQ and Four Birds Distillery in Havertown Is Back

Executive chef and owner Greg Herman stands behind some of the entrees offered at Sophie's BBQ.

There’s a new and improved Sophie’s BBQ and Four Birds Distillery in Havertown following a devastating fire in 2023, writes Vince Carey for the Daily Local.

The restaurant at 1901 E. Darby Road has been re-imagined by executive chef and owner Greg Herman with a menu that brings new, exciting tastes to the region.

Herman’s new menu brings back BBQ favorites like black angus brisket; Memphis style chicken; St. Louis Ribs and more.

It adds intriguing entrees like duck and waffles, bourbon-glazed salmon, grilled shrimp Cubano, hot honey chicken sandwich, Sophie’s Ribwich.

The restaurant was a hit when it opened in Ardmore in 2020 but closed there to reopen in Havertown in 2023 so they could partner with Four Birds Distillery. The Havertown location gave them more indoor and outdoor space, more kitchen room and a full bar.

A few weeks into the opening, a fire set them back nearly a year.

Sophie’s BBQ and Four Birds Distillery reopened in March 2024 with a limited menu. Now they are relaunching with a full menu as they return to full strength.

“We are so lucky to be here and be doing what we love each and every day,” said Herman.
