With less work commutes to Center City, and pandemic worries easing, suburbanites are taking their outside meals closer to home and suburban restaurants are thriving.

Here are two newcomers in Delaware County, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Crown Tavern

McKenie’s Brew House in the Brandywine Valley has been converted into an English pub, the Crown Tavern, at 451 Wilmington West Chester Pike in Glen Mills.

Owner Bill Mangan Jr. and his son Will created an energetic English pub with fireplaces and taxidermy. There’s a large beer, wine, and spirits. The menu features cod cakes, pies, curries and bowls, and chicken tikka masala.

Momoyama Ramen & Hawaiian BBQ II

A Hawaiian barbecue has found its way to 2308 Darby Road in Havertown. Thanks to owner Michael Suen’s Hawaiian upbringing, he and co-owner Don Cheng offer up causal East Asian barbecue and ramen.

There’s a full line of ramen, fried rice and noodle dishes, along with Hawaiian-style grill platters of rib eye, shrimp, sort rib, Kalua pork, with shredded cabbage, macaroni salad, and white rice.

More on the way

There are more newcomers on the horizon,, including branches of Amada in Radnor, and Rosalie in Glen Mills.
