A stately façade on a 1937 Georgian-style brick home in Haverford appealed to the home’s new owners but not so much a dated interior and off-center front entry, writes Eileen Smith Dallabrida for Main Line Today.
“Our sense of style is classic with a twist,” the owner said. “We love clean, simple lines, but we also wanted a beautiful, warm, personalized space.”
They needed a team of professionals to modernize the 7,800 square-foot home and utilized the talents of Ernst Brothers + Builders of Lower Gwynedd and Malvern’s Period Architecture.
They used a leaking flat roof repair to relocate the home’s main entry front and center, and replaced the flat roofs with graceful, pitched roofs using copper-accented synthetic slate.
The result was a balanced exterior façade and an inviting formal entrance, said Period cofounder and president Joe Mackin.
Meanwhile, the living room and kitchen are bathed in white and sophisticated creams while a striped sock with the owners’ favorite colors became the interior design colors for a glamorous dining room.
The end result is a home interior “that really feels like us,” the owner said.
