Three Delaware County public high schools made it into the top 10 best in the region.

Three Delaware County public high schools ranked in the top 10 out of 100 public high schools for the Philadelphia region in 2024.

Radnor High School came in 4th out of 100, writes Hillary O’Connor for Philadelphia Magazine.

Its 1,175 students experience a 12 to 1 student-teacher ratio, with a 73 percent proficiency in math, a 76 percent proficiency in science and a 91 percent proficiency in language arts.

Penncrest High School came in 8th.

Its 1,231 students have a 13 to1 student-teacher ratio and students have a 58 percent proficiency in math, a 76 percent proficiency in science, and an 86 percent proficiency in language arts/

Penncrest students have also been making year-over-year improvements on literacy scores as the school focused on its experienced English teachers.

“They spent a lot of time in PLCs (professional learning communities) refining and modifying curriculum,” said Principal Ed Roth.

Garnet Valley High School ranked 9th on the list.

Its 1,500 students also have a student-to-teacher ratio of 13 to 1.

Its students showed a 45 percent proficiency in math, a 65 percent proficiency in science and an 85 percent proficiency in the language arts.
