Two Delaware County vocational schools are among the best 25 in Pennsylvania, according to a new ranking published by the Public School Review.

Vocational schools offer courses that prepare you for jobs requiring something other than a baccalaureate or advanced degree.

Two Delaware County Technical High Schools, one in Aston and one in Folcroft, tied for eighth place with 12 other schools.

Rankings were based on a combined math and reading proficiency test score.

The percentage of students achieving proficiency in math in both schools is greater than 50 percent.

That’s higher than the state average of 45 percent.

Reading proficiency in both schools is also greater than 50 percent, but that rate comes in lower than the state’s average of 63 percent.

Delaware County Technical High Schools have campuses in Aston and Folcroft.

Programs are also held at seven partnering hospitals, according to the dciu.com website.

Students from the 15 area school districts can enhance their education with career and technical experiences connected to the real world.

Programs are offered in:

  • Health and biosciences
  • Engineering and computer science
  • Logistics, distribution, and transportation
  • Hospitality, tourism, and human services
  • Construction technology
