Delaware County’s Dave Droxler Performs Robin Williams- Inspired One-Man Show

Dave Droxler brings his one-man show "Robin & Me" to the Hedgerow Theatre.

Delaware County native Dave Droxler brings his one-man show, “Robin & Me: My Little Spark of Madness,” to the Hedgerow Theatre in Media, writes Sabrina Boy-Surka for KYW Newsradio.

The show is about Droxler’s childhood and his idol, Robin Williams.

The two never met, but Droxler related to Williams growing up.

“He felt like an adult version of myself,” Droxler said. “When I was younger, I was very manic … doing lots of voices, jumping around … a high energy child.”

Droxler said Williams made him feel like it was OK to exist the way he was.

Droxler created the autobiographical play “Robin and Me” in which Williams appears as an imaginary friend to young Droxler. The play focuses on Droxler’s relationship with his father, who died earlier this year.

The show has been performed off-Broadway in New York and now comes to the Hedgerow Theatre Oct. 9 to Oct. 27.

“It’s amazing … to be able to come home to tell the stories of where everything happened, and then have many of the people who I talk about in the show be there to support me is incredible,” Droxler said.
