Chris Nee has published a book, "Boy Meets Anxiety" with a focus on mental health.

Chris Nee of Media is a standup comedian, a cancer survivor, and now an author describing his journey to overcome anxiety, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

He dedicated his book, “Boy Meets Anxiety,” to his best friend Shawn, who struggled with his own mental health silently for years and eventually committed suicide.

The book is for those who feel lost and are ready to live the life they deserve.

“I wrote this book to break the stigma that this world has about mental health, to spread mental health and suicide awareness, and to ultimately help anyone in need,” Nee said. “The world needs someone to relate to, and I want to be the face of this generation’s struggles.”

The book includes resources to help manage the challenges of mental health.

Nee grew up in Upper Darby, attended St. Laurence Elementary School, and graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 2009.

He works in business development for a West Chester redistribution company and operates a carpet cleaning business with his older brother that was founded by his father, Upper Darby Police Officer Thomas Nee.

As a standup comedian, he’s been making people laugh professionally since he was 17.
