Chalfont ten-year-old Frankie Wilson, who became a cancer advocate five years ago following her father’s diagnosis, has also now been diagnosed with cancer, writes Jordan Greene for People.

Dan Wilson, Frankie’s father, was 34 when he learned he had Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. He and his wife, Brittany, sat Frankie down to explain the situation.

The following week, the girl grabbed a microphone at school to tell everybody what was going on and to ask people to pray for her dad.

Since then, she has been the “best little lung cancer advocate,” said her mother.

She has been helping run the family nonprofit Links for Lungs, which raises money for cancer research.

“She’s been involved in all our events,” said Brittany. “She helps host lemonade stands every year and participates in our golf outing.”

But in February, the family was hit with even more bad news. Frankie was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare malignant tumor. Doctors have since outlined a treatment plan that will last nine months, including radiation and chemotherapy.

Although the situation has been incredibly challenging, the family still wanted to share their story to help raise awareness.
