Energy Transfer and Sunoco have donated $1.6 million to MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital in Houston through a fundraising campaign. The cornerstone of the annual campaign is personal donations from the more than 10,000 Energy Transfer and Sunoco employees.

The 2021 donation total also includes matching funds from Dallas-based Energy Transfer and a donation from the Energy Transfer/Sunoco Foundation. Since 2014, Energy Transfer and Sunoco have raised nearly $10 million to fund pediatric cancer research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Energy Transfer operates the Marcus Hook Industrial Complex, a natural gas liquids processing facility, and has nearly 3,000 miles of pipeline infrastructure and gathering systems located in Pennsylvania.

“Energy Transfer and Sunoco share strong values of corporate stewardship and believe in the importance of giving back to organizations working to better the communities in which we live and work,” said Chris Curia, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Energy Transfer.

“We are proud to continue our support of the No. 1 cancer center in the U.S. and their mission to eliminate cancer through their advanced research and treatment efforts. We are inspired by its leaders and all of the doctors and nurses who work daily to make a difference in the lives of the children fighting cancer and their families.”

Every dollar donated will go directly toward the innovative and lifesaving cancer research and patient care initiatives at MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital that aims to advance treatments and care programs for patients across the globe.

“We continue to be overwhelmed by the incredible generosity and heartfelt support from thousands of employees at Energy Transfer and Sunoco,” said Dr. Richard Gorlick, division head and chair of pediatrics at MD Anderson. “It is through their steadfast commitment to our mission to end cancer that we can continue to provide the very best care to our patients and push the boundaries of discovery in innovative cancer research.”
