Bunny Hares in Newtown Square Celebrates 20 Years in Business

Celebrating Bunny Hares' 20h anniversary are (from left) Linda, Lisa, and Anne Marie Hare.

Anne Marie Hare can’t believe her shop is celebrating 20 years.

‘I still love it like it’s the first day I walked in the door’: she said.

Hare sells jewelry, home goods, gifts and more at her Newtown Square business, Bunny Hares, writes Conner Barkon for KYW Newsradio.

She opened her business in 2004 with a small loan of $20,000.

“Not enough to fill a store — that might’ve got me two displays full of stuff, and then mostly everything else on the credit card, so the first few years were, ‘Oh God am I gonna make this? I’ll be in debt,’” she said.

Now she’s not only made it past those early years, she’s survived online shopping and COVID-19 lockdowns.

Hare survived during the pandemic by slashing prices and leaving orders in her car trunk for customers to pick up.

“So they would drive up, grab what they wanted and leave. And that kind of kept me able to pay my rent.”

As for buying from her shop instead of online or in a big box store?

Customer service.  Staff will walk you out to your car, wrap items and just help you out, she said.
