As the entire state of Pennsylvania prepares to be the center of attention in 2026 as part of the celebrations honoring the 250th anniversary of the nation’s independence, Philadelphia will shine especially bright, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Cassandra Coleman, executive director of America250PA, noted the organization has a number of goals and priorities in preparation of 2026.
“The goal is to continue to build upon our really solid and strong foundation to make sure that every Pennsylvanian, all 13 million, find one of our programs, projects or events that they’re interested in that creates a memory for them, just like folks have memories from the bicentennial,” she said. “We want these memories to be positive.”
Coleman believes Philadelphia always delivers and thinks 2026 will be no different.
The city’s business community has a very important role to play as it prepares for the 2026 celebrations.
“I encourage the business community to roll up their sleeves and to dive in and to really engage with this work. Because this is the work that is truly bringing people together,” Coleman said.
To this end, she believes the work being done is uniting, reigniting, and serves as a spark of pride for being from Philadelphia.
