Media’s Where To Be When You’re Ready to Walk to Your Next Meal
Whether it’s weekend visits to neighborhood farmer’s markets, or a stroll down main street to your favorite restaurant, there are communities in Delaware County and nearby where you can walk to your favorite meal, writes Sandy Smith for Philadelphia Magazine.
Media Borough
The borough becomes a giant outdoor dining room every Wednesday night from May through September when more than two dozen restaurants from State Street provide street dining at the popular Dining Under the Stars.
The special event highlights all that Media restaurants have to offer, but you can enjoy the variety throughout the year, including fresh, local food at places like Two Fourteen, or “refreshingly global” Azie.
For those who want to stay close to Media’s restaurant scene, it might be best to rent a space in or near the borough.
About 65 to 90 percent of the housing close to State Street is renter-occupied.
Rowhouses dominate in Media’s southern third, which includes State Street.
Ardmore
Nearby Ardmore has become known as “The Main Street of the Main Line” and there are plenty of walkable options. Suburban Square has a Farmers’ Market and 13 eateries, while Lancaster Ave. has no less than 30 places to eat.
