Compared to everyone else in Pennsylvania, the purchasing power of Delaware County residents is in the top 10, but neighbors in Chester, Bucks, and Montgomery County are able to buy a bit more with their dollars, according to SmartAsset’s 2024 Cost of Living calculator.
Delaware County showed up sixth highest in the state for purchasing power, 316th nationwide.
With the county’s median income of $86,390, someone moving to Delaware County would need a salary of $59,488 to cover the county’s cost of living, according to the calculator.
Chester County showed up with the highest level of purchasing power in Pennsylvania, ranking 65th nationwide. It has a median income of $118,574.
Bucks County was second for purchasing power in the state, ranking 141st nationwide. Its median income is $107,826.
Montgomery County came in third statewide, and 166th nationwide. Its median income is $107,441.
SmartAsset releases its “Cost of Living” calculator every year that lets people compare and contrast the cost of living around the U.S.
