Ryanne Allen, a former standout at Archbishop Wood, is returning to her roots after two seasons with Vanderbilt, writes Andrew Robinson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

On May 3, Allen announced her transfer to Villanova University, bringing her back to the Philadelphia area.

Allen’s move to Villanova reunites her with former high school teammate Kaitlyn Orihel.

The Wildcats, who made it to the WBIT championship game last season, are reshaping their roster after losing four key starters, including Lucy Olsen to Iowa and Christina Dalce to Maryland.

The 6-foot-1 guard from Perkasie played 30 games as a freshman at Vanderbilt, averaging 6.4 points and shooting 35.9 percent from three-point range.

Despite reduced minutes in her sophomore year, she continued to excel, shooting 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Allen joins a strong local contingent at Villanova, including Maddie Burke from Central Bucks West and fellow Catholic League alumni Annie Welde and Maggie Grant.

She looks forward to contributing her shooting skills to Villanova’s motion offense.
