Villanova Wildcats are well represented on two U.S. teams competing at the International Basketball Federation three-on-three tournament Aug. 13-19 in the Dominican Republic, writes Isabella DiAmore for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Villanova Forward Maddy Siegrist is one of six college stars chosen for the U.S. Women’s 23-and-under 3×3 basketball team.

Joining her on the U.S. men’s 23-and-under 3×3 team are Villanova Wildcats Eric Dixon and Chris Arcidiacono.

Siegrist says she felt like a high school freshman trying out for the U.S. team.

“I can’t really remember the last time I tried out for something,” Siegrist said. “You’re like a little kid again, wondering if I may get my name called. Luckily, I was the first one called.”

This is Maddy Siegrist’s first international competition.  Dixon and Arcidiacono, on the other hand, played on the U23 national team last summer in France.

After finishing with a 4-2 record in the 2021 National League, Dixon and Arcidiacono were invited back by USA Basketball to compete on the 2022 3×3 team.

The international attention for Villanova comes amidst a change in coaches for the men’s team, with assistant coach Kyle Neptune taking over for retired head coach Jay Wright.
