Bridget Herlihy basketball career is doing some globetrotting, writes Eric McHugh for The Patriot Ledger.

The former Villanova player spent last season playing professionally in Luxembourg and will head back to Europe in October as she and her younger sister play the 2022-23 campaign for a club in Sweden.

The two sisters lost out on their only season double teaming as Wildcats because of Brianna’s ACL injury.

Not that Bridget Herlihy’s not doing well in her solo gig.

The 25-year-old recently debuted in four games for the Irish Women’s National Team against Estonia and Portugal.

Herlihy took dual Irish/American citizenship so she could play internationally.

“I felt very proud. Both of my grandparents on my dad’s side are from here originally,” she said. “They’re not with us anymore, but I do feel like they would be very proud to see me competing for Ireland.”

For all four games she averaged 17.3 points and 9.8 rebounds.

“Bridget was an excellent addition to our team, on and off the court,” Ireland coach James Weldon said. “It’s very unusual for someone making their international debut to be top scorer in a game, but Bridget did that, which is incredible.”
