The Delaware County Department of Human Services and CHOP will be new Drexeline tenants in Drexel Hill.

Two new Drexeline tenants will be occupying an office building being built at the Drexeline Town Center in Drexel Hill, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

The building, behind PNC Bank, will house Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia offices in March or April of next year.

The Delaware County Department of Human Services will arrive in June 2025. A groundbreaking is May 8.

Human Services and CHOP will share the first floor, with Human Services also on the second and third floor.

The Department of Human Services has been at 20 S. 69th Street for 30 years, but has had problems with the landlord. The lease expires next year.

“The building we’re currently in has been a problem for well before I’ve been on council,” County Councilwoman Christine Reuther said.

A spokesman for the building’s owner, LP and Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp., said they’d made a decision “to go our separate ways.”

In January, county council OK’d a 20-year lease with MCBH Drexeline Plaza LP for 5100 State Road.  Annual rent will be $1.7 million for 10 years, then $1.8 million for five years, and $1.98 million for the final five years of the lease.
