These Delaware County Colleges Are Small But Mighty, Survey Shows

Delaware County colleges continue to place well on various national lists.

If you’ve ever wanted to know what the top colleges are in the Northeast based on size, worry no more.

For your information, Amherst College is the top small college in the Northeast, Princeton University is the region’s top midsize school, and the University of Pennsylvania is the top large school as ranked in the Wall Street Journal/ College Pulse 2024 Best College in the U.S.

Delaware County colleges also ranked well on the list.

Swarthmore College can be proud that it came in third on the list of top small Northeast colleges.

For these rankings, colleges are considered small if they have fewer than 3,000 undergraduate students, midsize if they have 3,000 to 9,999, and large if they have 10,000 or more.

Amherst has an overall national ranking of 8th, while Swarthmore College ranks 11th nationally.

Haverford College also made the list, ranking fourth amongst the top small colleges in the Northeast, and ranking 41st nationally.

The overall scores for the schools were based on student outcomes, learning environment, and whether students would recommend the school were also when determining the overall scores.
