Two Delaware County colleges made it to the top 5 ranks in Niche’s listing of the top universities in Pennsylvania for 2023.

Swarthmore College ranked at No. 3 while Haverford College made it to No. 4, writes Rachel Ravina for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Swarthmore and Haverford switched places on the list this year compared to last year’s rankings.

Villanova University just missed making the top 5 list, coming in at No. 7. It was No. 5 last year.

Dominating the list was the University of Pennsylvania which once again claimed the top spot in the state.

Niche looked at data and reviews for more than 4,000 colleges and universities across the nation to create its Best Colleges in America list. Criteria include acceptance rates, test scores, and admission costs.

Among the top 100 colleges and universities nationally, Swarthmore came in at No. 31, Haverford at No. 51, and Villanova at No. 65.

A Niche reviewer noted the historic feeling of Swarthmore College’s buildings and the natural surroundings of the campus.

The community of Haverford College was praised in another review, noting that the atmosphere is welcoming and the professors very supportive.
